Slow by design
Amrita was founded in a kitchen in Ubud in 2014, when our founder began experimenting with the botanicals she had collected over years of working alongside traditional Balinese healers. The first formula — a cold-pressed face oil using turmeric, sandalwood, and wild-harvested sea buckthorn — took three years to complete. We were not in a hurry, and that has not changed.
We still make everything in the same way: in small batches, by hand, without heat, without synthetic preservation. This limits how much we can produce, and that is deliberate. Every product represents the exact amount of care that this process allows.
Ingredients first, always
Each botanical we use is sourced through direct relationships with growers who have worked with specific plants for generations. Our sandalwood comes from a family estate in Mysore that has cultivated the same grove for over a hundred years. Our turmeric is grown by a cooperative of twelve farmers in East Java.
We pay above-market rates and make long-term commitments. Not because it makes for good storytelling, but because it is the only way to guarantee that what reaches you is genuinely what we say it is.
